How i won WWDC25

Apple park

Winning the WWDC25 Swift Student Challenge was one of the best moments of my life. In this blog, I want to quickly walk through what I built, how I got selected, and my experience visiting Apple Park.

I was working on SyncWave, an all-in-one student platform. One problem we wanted to solve was roommate and housing discovery. Most platforms just let people upload photos of their rooms, which felt outdated. So we thought, why not let users scan their room and show it off in 3D?

That’s where my project, RoomExplore, came in. I used Apple’s RoomPlan API to let users scan their room using an iPhone or iPad Pro. The app automatically generated a 3D model with furniture and layout using the built-in LiDAR scanner.

But I didn’t stop there. I added an immersive walkthrough mode. Instead of just looking at a 3D model and dragging around, users could walk through the space using their phone’s motion sensors. I also added walking speed physics and object collision detection, so users couldn’t walk through walls or furniture. It felt like a small first-person experience, all built in Swift with RealityKit and ARKit.

This idea of making room tours feel interactive and real was the core of my project. I submitted it to the Swift Student Challenge and got selected as a WWDC25 Scholar.

Visiting Apple Park was unreal. I got to meet other students, engineers, and designers at Apple. I saw the campus, attended sessions, and felt inspired seeing how much innovation happens behind the scenes.

RoomExplore was a simple idea with a unique twist: make student housing feel more real, more interactive, and more fun. I’m glad the judges saw the value in that.

To anyone thinking of applying next year: build something useful and creative. It doesn’t have to be huge. Just something that solves a real problem in a new way.
